Dutch Interiors test shoot
These are some images I took as a test shoot experimenting with lighting as used by the Dutch Interior artists, such as Vermeer, Van Dyk & the most well known Rembrant.
This was a poignant artistic development that originated in Holland in the 17th Century & marked a movement of vast diversity of subject matter from the most elevated themes to the humblest subject matters, such as still lifes and scenes of everyday life, it shows an appreciation for different subjects and styles, as well as for individual interpretations and points of view.
I admire in particular the lighting & tonal qualities & the fact the portraits exude a sense of authority and individuality, even when the beholder knows that the subject cannot be identified.
A big thank you to my gorgeous models, you were fantastic…. It was good fun & another girlie excuse to rummage through bags of clothes & boxes of jewelry! I think as a team we certainly managed to achieve the results I was hoping for & some lovely memories for the girls too.

We loved the new pics on the blog. The first pic is outstanding. I particularly like the sharp focus on the flower against the lovely soft focus on the face. Great! Mum and Dad.
